28 Thomas St., Old Dublin

Adm:  €10 and €8 (concession)

New original music, spoken word, short film, comedy and classic cabaret: it’s all at The Cáca Milis Cabaret, Saturday, 19 July next at 9pm in Upstairs at Arthur’s, 28 Thomas Street.

Taking the old music hall variety format, Cáca Milis presents original artists and original work, with some fun thrown in, and always of the finest calibre.

As usual, there’s classic cabaret songs from your Hostess Helena Mulkerns, irreverently accompanied by popular Dublin Pianoman and musical director, Josh Johnston.

Apart from some parasol swirling, we’ll have spoken word from one of Ireland’s hottest new authors, Louise O’Neill – whose debut novel, Only Ever Yours has been garnering rave reviews.

Music comes at the top of the night from fabulous Lorraine McColgan and The Winters, but before that, the inimitable Ms. Christiane O’Mahoney will boldly take you where no harp has gone before!

There’ll be longtime cabaret favourites The Orchids, whose exotic tribal fusion moves blend punk sexuality with classic Egyptian bellydance.  And direct from Belgium – another Cáca Milis cohort: comedian Dave Hayden does a unique Dublin summer spot.

Our Ciné Sweetcake presentation is the haunting and magical short film, The Girl With The Mechanical Maiden, by award-winning film maker Andrew Legge.

Finally, don’t miss the opportunity to pick up your copy of that commendable tome, Red Lamp Black Piano: The Cáca Milis Anthology, with its unique introduction by Patrick McCabe, and selection of writers and poets who have appeared at the event.

With raffle prizes galore, a birthday toast to Hunter S. Thompson, and spot prize for best Hunter S. lookalike in the house, what’s not to like at the Cáca Milis Cabaret?

Show starts at 9pm (seated 8:45) Admission is €10 or €8   Food and fine refreshments.   Book ahead through Entertainment.ie:  e1.ie/2nop      or call  086-20-20-289.
